Every year, Ceci Johnson, our founder and creative director, plans and curates extremely detailed and memorable birthday parties for her children. For Elle's fifth birthday, the theme was "Under the Sea," an enchanting celebration of her love for mermaids and the ocean. Our team at Ceci New York was inspired to design an invitation and matching event branding for an underwater wonderland filled with shimmering pastels and sparkling pearls.

Our design process began with the invitation, which inspired hand-painted and illustrated mermaid-inspired branding for the event, including vibrant sea creatures and fauna. We used pastel colors and pearl accents to create a playful atmosphere. The branding included signage, artwork, and labels all designed to match the party's theme. We created a couture crest, or logo, for the party, which included mermaids and seashell elements.
Ceci worked closely with the event planner, Carrie Zack, and the decor specialist, Bambini Soiree, to ensure that every detail contributed to a cohesive look and feel throughout the venue. With her artistic eye, Ceci provided creative direction and collaborated with the rest of the team to execute Elle's birthday at the next level. Our team designed couture backdrops, featuring seashell and jellyfish elements, which were all hand-painted by Ceci herself with love.
The cupcake toppers and other decorations for the sweets table matched perfectly, including cookies shaped like starfish and seahorses. As we wanted to give the party an iridescent theme, we chose a color palette of pastel blues, purples, and pinks for the decor. We created matching labels for the treats, using the same playful font, crest, and pastel colors to tie everything together. The final result was a beautifully coordinated sweets table that perfectly captured the essence of an under-the-sea celebration. Ceci teamed up with Create Art Party to design a mermaid-themed art project. The project includes sandcastles, paint, and, of course, glitter!
